Hyundai Motor India Ltd has registered a 16.6 per cent increase in vehicle sales at 62,276 units in January, the company said on Wednesday. The company had retailed a total of 53,427 unit of vehicles in the year-ago period. During the last month, domestic sales stood at 50,106 units as against 44,022 units sold in 2022. “We have begun CY2023 on a high note recording double digit growth in the month of January. The SUVs—Tucson, Creta, Venue, Alcazar and Kona—have maintained strong sales momentum in their respective segments, clocking 27,532 units in January,” Tarun Garg, Chief Operating Officer at Hyundai Motor India Ltd, said.
In related news, Hyundai's smallest SUV venue is set to get an update in the form of a more powerful 115 hp 1.5-litre diesel engine (which also powers the Creta, Seltos, and Sonet diesel-AT). Plus, it will also be refreshed for equipment.
As before, the Venue will continue to be offered in six trims – E, S, S+, S(O), SX and SX(O). While the variant line-up remains unchanged, the company has slightly reshuffled the equipment list across the board, fro example, Venue SX diesel also loses a rear seat recliner and armrest.
Expect a slight revision in prices for the Venue diesel once the updated SUV goes on sale in the coming weeks. Key rivals include the Kia Sonet, Maruti Brezza, Tata Nexon, Renault Kiger, Nissan Magnite and also the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Fronx.
